James and Ian launched MAKE Structures Consulting Engineers Ltd in 2021 to work with architects, clients, and other designers, who share their passion for high-quality, sustainable buildings.
JAMES ENGWALL
As a Chartered Structural Engineer with 15 years' experience on residential, commercial, education and leisure projects, James is trusted by some of the UK’s top Architects to help deliver award-winning projects.
He has worked on a wide range of interesting projects from small refurbishments to large redevelopments of historic buildings. Always aiming to design efficient, elegant structures, he enjoys projects that present unusual challenges.
James likes to work closely with Clients and Architects to ensure their design aspirations are met in a practical and efficient way.
He is a visiting lecturer and tutor at the University of Westminster and carries out design reviews on architecture students' end-of-year projects.

IAN KISBY
With over 15 years' experience as a consultant structural engineer, Ian excels at providing bespoke solutions for each phase of the design and construction process.
He enjoys working closely with architects and the design team from an early stage to develop elegant structures that are practical to build and complement the architectural concept.
Ian's broad experience ranges from small domestic jobs through to large multi-million pound commercial developments across a variety of sectors.
He has worked on the successful renovation and conversion of many listed and historical buildings, and relishes the challenge of reviving and enhancing existing structures for modern use.
